The 3.5-inch touch screen on the TomTom One is just the right size for use in the car. It is large enough that you can easily see it while driving, but small enough that it does not take up too much room on your dashboard. The device can be taken off of your dashboard and placed in your pocket or briefcase if needed. The touch screen feature makes it easy to navigate while driving. It is coated with an anti-glare coating so that it is visible even in bright sunlight. The TomTom uses voice navigation and can be set to use either a male or a female voice. Turn-by-turn spoken directions ensure that you arrive at your destination without any trouble.

This edition of the TomTom is preloaded with maps of the United States and Canada. You can set up the device so that it alerts you to points of interest and even special driving situations, such as school zones. The unit can only be charged through your car or computer via a USB cable, not through a power outlet. There is no memory expansion card, but the device has 1 GB of memory, so more memory is rarely needed.

In spite of these potential downsides, the TomTom One 3rd edition is a great portable GPS device for those looking for a quality unit at an affordable price. It has enough memory and features to get you where you need to go without a problem, yet the price tag makes it affordable for most people.
